“ARE RUSSIAN WOMEN SCAMMERS OR ARE THEY LEGITIMATE?”

This is probably the single most important question that men face when searching for Russian Women. You might be surprised by this question too, because it almost seems like a stupid question to ask… that is, until you’ve been scammed. And by then, you will begin to understand that this question is not so silly after all, but rather should be addressed in a serious manner when seeking Russian women as a partner from outside your native country.

So what exactly is the Russian Women Scam? Well, it rather goes like this…

You join a site and find a pretty girl. You begin writing to her and she takes a very serious interest in you. She seems lovely, she offers you more photos of herself that are dazzling. You are mesmerized by her beauty and are excited that this beautiful Russian woman is interested in you.

You write back and forth for 2 weeks, never missing a day, and sometimes sending 3-4 emails a day, and suddenly she is convinced that you are the one! She doesn’t waste any time by telling you that she is in love with you and how she can’t wait to come to America and be with you, to start a family, etc.

You’re excited… and you haven’t felt this way in such a long time. But then you sit back and think about it — and you ask yourself, “How is this possible? How can she truly love me?” But after pondering for hours, you somehow convince yourself that it’s possible because in all honesty, this is what YOU CHOSE TO BELIEVE. All of your instincts are thrown out of the window because she is beautiful and you are so mesmerized by her beauty. And to think that she chose YOU out of everyone else. Your ego is inflated, you feel wonderful — you feel alive.

So you write her back, trying to think of the words to say. You stay up all night long, spilling your guts to her. Telling her how you have never felt this way before, that you’ve been hurt but are willing to take a chance and that you believe you can make it work. You finally hit the send button and await a response.

It’s now 4 days later – no response from her. You are feeling sick in your stomach because you think your letter to her scared her off. You split your guts and maybe now she feels you’re not the one. Or maybe someone else was writing to her and suddenly caught her eye? Whatever the case, you feel awful and hope and pray that she writes back.

Finally, her email comes. You are thrilled yet nervous — you are afraid to open it. But you manage to get the strength to read it anyway. This is wen you realize that something tragic has happened to one of her family members. Perhaps her sister got into a car accident or her mother had to be rushed to the hospital. She apologize to you for not writing back sooner, but this tragedy is very important. She ends it by saying there is not enough money to pay for the important surgery needed to save her sister’s life, and how they do not make enough money because Russia is a very poor country and she only has $200 saved up, but needs $800 for the surgery. She is so sad and asks for some time alone while she thinks of ways to get the money needed. She ends the email with, “You are the kindest man I know. Thank you for loving me.”

You are shell shocked. You make $36K a year and coming up with $800 is tight, but no problem because you have this money saved. You want to come to the rescue because you love her. So you write to her, telling her that you will give her the money, and you only need her information from western union.

She writes you back, she is happy and grateful and gives you her information. She also gives you her cell phone number in case you need it, but explains not to call it unless it’s an emergency because she will be billed for long distance charges. You wire the money, a few days later she gets it. She continues to write to you for a few days, telling you her sister is okay and everything went well. And then — *POOF* — she’s gone. No more emails from her. You call her cell phone number and you realize it doesn’t work. Congratulations… you’ve just been scammed out of $800.

Ok, so it’s only $800 right? Yes, only $800 from you, but what you don’t know is that she working the same angle with 10 other guys, all of whom sent her money too. That’s $8000 in one day! Are you beginning to see the picture? This is easy money for scammers. And the oddity is this — the women aren’t even real, as a majority of scammers are actually men and companies who hire people to do these things. And that is just one con job going around — there are many others which are more sophisticated than that.

So how can you avoid it? Well, as I stated before, you need to know the signs, and there are plenty of them… just too many to write about. This is why I recommend reading The Anti-Scam Guide by Elena Petrova. She has them all listed in there and they are very helpful indeed. But what I can say a good basic general of thumb is this:

NEVER GIVE MONEY TO ANYONE YOU DON’T KNOW!!

If you do, then you’re not thinking with the “right” head. A good Russian woman would never ask for money from you — that is a fact. Russia is a broke country, but we’re not poor, not like Africa. Take that into consideration. If she’s asking you for money, then she is scamming you — bottom line.

If you’re nervous about being scammed and your radar goes off, then try taking some of the email (copy/paste) and put it straight into Google. Many men post their scamming emails on the web.
